Problem: | “DBINST.EXE has generated errors and will be closed by windows” when installing Primavera standalone. NOTE: DBINST.EXE is the executable for Database Installation. |
Cause: | There is a process conflict prohibiting DBINST.EXE from running. |
Fix: | Fully remove partial standalone installation. Click here for instructions on ”How to completely remove Primavera Enterprise Stand-Alone” Disable Anti-virus software and any unnecessary processes that are running in the Task Manager. To view the processes, go to CTRL+ALT+DELETE and click ‘Task Manager’ / ’Processes’. Highlight a process and click ‘End Process’. If the process cannot be ended, the following error will generate: If the process can be ended, the following warning will generate: Click ‘Yes’ to end the process. Any processes that are successfully ended will be restarted when the machine is rebooted. NOTE: Rebooting the machine in Safe Mode is not possible. Safe Mode prohibits Interbase Server from starting. This service needs to start in order to create and host the database. |
